Becoming a DIY Queen is not only a challenge but also a bit of a necessity…
Myself and Mr Challenge have just bought our first home together. The house is half of a converted pub in a small Gloucestershire town, on the high street. It’s really quirky, has loads of character and it feels like it ‘fits us’.
We love it, it is a fair size; 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, mahoosive lounge and kitchen. So there is plenty of space for me to work and for the boys to all have their own space without us all being on top of each other. It’s also a great space to entertain.
But, it needs quite a bit of work doing to it and we have very little money to do it. So we’re going to have to do it ourselves to cut costs and hopefully make our dreams and plans for our home a reality.
Our DIY skills are limited, we’ve been living in a rented house so not had the need but we’re really keen to get started. We can decorate reasonably well, but anything more complex than that is going to require some investigation, planning and research. We’re going to have to learn how to do all of these things and just have a bash at it!
The first step is to do some research and get some ideas together, then devise a plan, budget and figure out funding the project!
