My first Challenge Champion of 2018, and my first Challenge Champion ever, is fellow blogger, Ellie!
Since I started ChallengeClare I have been reading a lot of blogs, and I’ll be honest I do often read them with my teacher hat on. Skimming and scanning, until I find the stuff I’m interested in. For me, what I’m looking for is openness and soul. Something that makes me feel like I can connect with the person writing it.
I think that it might come from years of marking kids books. Kids, that I do have a connection with. Who often, have given me that ‘Oh my God that’s amazing!’ feeling with a brutally honest piece of writing. Basically, I’m looking for that in the blogs that I read for pleasure. No pressure!
I recently discovered Ellie’s blog through a bloggers Facebook group we are both members of. I started, as I usually do with the about me, my story posts and wow! There it was! I got the ‘Oh my God that’s amazing!’ feeling when I read it. What really struck me about Ellie and her blog was her breathtaking openness and honesty about the traumatic challenges she has faced in her life.
Ellie is my Challenge Champion, not only for her brutal and raw honesty, but because she epitomises what ChallengeClare stands for. Squaring up to that challenge, feeling it and finding a way through it. Ellie has done just that. She focuses on the aspects of life that bring her joy, sharing her experiences and journey with others to reassure and inspire them through her blog.
